These are some comments about BA FREE TOUR Just to let you know me, and about 40 other people stood there waiting for at least 30 minutes for the free 11am tour yesterday on Monday 14th May - and NO guided showed. I know this is a free tour, but still extremly disappointing..

Euroklimat Great tour, Gaston was so nice - he knew all that we needed and more. The walk was easy and informative. BA is a big city and this tour is a must. Cheers.

I'm local from Buenos Aires, and although I know quite well my home city, she still told us many interesting things I didn't know before. Her english is perfect and it's always interesting to listen to her tips, jokes, and her descriptions of the places, history, local idiosyncracy and everyday life, etc. Thank you Virginia!.
Charco | Argentina Virginia was a friendly and lively tour guide who managed the group very well (it was a group of over 20 people). Her presentations were interesting and engaging and delivered in very colloquial English. At around two and a half hours the tour was just the right amount of time, not too long too be tiring but also not rushed either. I would highly recommend the tour to anyone visiting Buenos Aires and I think Virginia is a great guide .
Liz and Walter Casha | plaza del congreso We went on Virginia's 11am tour on 23rd December. She is the best tour guide in the world! And no she dosn't tell us to say that ;) Her enthusiasm for BA is infectious. I was also really impressed that she gav up her time afterwards to talk to people. I did a similar free tour in Barcelona and think the concept is brilliant; far better than seeing a city from a tour bus. The tour was great despite the rain and it was a fantastic introduction to the best city in the world. The tour was recommended to us by my dad and we're definitely going to join the 5 pm one during our stay. My only suggestion would be to start the morning tour at 10am so it finishes before lunch time. A few people got lost when we stopped for a 15 minute break so starting earlier might avoid losing members of the group. Overall I loved it!.

braian perez Did the City Walking Tour in a huge group with Gaston on 08.11.11. His unbelievable energy, enthusiasm, humour AND knowledge kept the whole group together for the 3 hour walking tour. Quite an achievement! A great way to see the city. Would highly recommend this. Well done! Enjoyed it so much that I did the Recoleta tour with Sol the next day...not so much subject matter to work on, but very enjoyable! Do the tours!! .

Very informed and always ready to answer questions. The second one we was the same day with Sol starting at the San Martin Plaza. It was hot, really hot. The Sol was very professional, well informed and funny the same time. She also was really helpful with booking the best Tango show in Buenos Aires and helped us to organize an unbelievable private tour next morning with Adrienne. We spend at least 5 hours on a private tour which was exceptionally good and at the end Adrienne help us to book tour to Iguaçu Falls. We thoroughly enjoyed all three tours. Thank you all ladies. .

A few thoughts: -It's a shame that so much of the tour is next to busy roads, but that can't be helped I guess! You handled it well! -I think maybe the tour needs to end with a bit more of a bang, a special story or something that nobody knows: that's how we did it in Berlin, and it helped us get the best tips, I think! -I think the best part of the tour was asking people for any questions they had about BA: it was great to be able to help with everything from money problems to where to eat lunch. Good work! So, that's all I can think of - i hope to come to the afternoon tour when I find some time, (busy looking for work right now!), and to see you again, or one of your tour-mates. And both were in English, which is always a plus for travellers! My only advice would be to take them on different days. There's a lot of walking, but it's definitely worth it!.

Jorge Ackermann | Lima Peru BA Free Walking Tour was given by Maca (as in macarena) and is like winning the lottery.. 3 hours of walking from the government house to the pink house with a non stop description of the current gov past gov and a constant insertion of her views. Maca is an amazing person who elaborates on everything from the sleepy congress to the falkland island warriors that have been demonstrating since the scuffle. FYI, there is a loud, drum beating demo everyday which one cannot ignore (they are the equivelent of the post vietnam USA circumstance). Note the white thing-a-ma-jig pic of which there are 17 near the demo. It is not related to that but to 17 ladies that walked the area in protest to several thousands of people that were gov kidnapped / murdered around 1980. This was at a time when two people were not allowed to walk together in BA! BA has a very dramatic history including having been portugese, spanish, british and has gone through relatively current evil times much like many of the world's countries.

The Congresso tour is more historic, the San Martin tour is more about the neighborhood and founding wealthy family history. Highly recommend taking both is you have time. =0).

We took the tours our first full day in BA and it was the perfect way to start out our trip. They both had a great sense of humor and were very patient with picture taking and question answering. I also felt like they told us a lot of the history as well as lot of 'insider information' that you wouldn't find in any travel books. It really made the rest of our week that much better given the history, information and advice we learned on the tour. It was also fun to meet some other English speaking tourists and get their insights on what to do or where to eat, etc. I would highly recommend taking both of these tours to start out your BA vacation!.

It's free, informative, and the guide is fantastic. Sol is funny, knows her history and is very helpful. It was a freezing day and our guide did a great job in livening up the day with his knowledge and sense of humour. My husband wasn't so keen that our guide mentioned political issues but I personally found it added to the enjoyment of the tour. We felt safe while we covered lots of city streets. Gracias!.

Paulo | Lisbon Portugal I would recommend this tour as the best way of seeing the major sights of downtown BA (often called the microcentro). Our guide was Sol, who was knowledgeable, friendly and communicated well in English. I also took a 1/2 day city tour run by a major operator in a bus, and enjoyed the Free Tour much more. The sights are best seen on foot, you get more time, you generally meet some interesting people on walking tours, and the guide was much better. The only advantage of the 1/2 day city tours run by larger operators is that you see the "uptown" sights as well, though BA Free Tour also operate a second walking tour (which I didn't do) for those sights. I really like the idea these tours are free - but they earn their money from tips……….

WARNING: The day tour guide warned us about people with green vests at the 5 PM tour saying they are from Free BA tour and asking for money for the tour. This tour is completely FREE tour, they will not ask you for anything except feedback if you want to give it and of course if you enjoy it, which I know you will, you can give them a tip since this is how they make there living. You cannot miss this tour when you visit the city, well worth 2 hours..

In a city with so many attractions it was good to have someone tell you what was worth visiting and what wasn't and to give you some background and history of the city. It would be nice to see this being done by students in all countries. This should definitely be the first thing you do in Buenos Aires, if you are travelling alone it is also a good way to meet people..

They survive by tips which is a great incentive for them to give you the best walking tour of your life. I had only a few days in BA and I went on two different days, there's a 5 PM tour more of the residential areas and a 11 AM tour of the major gov't buildings. Both are about two hours and don't require RSVPS. Just show up near the meeting points and look for other tourist like folks. Meeting points are detailed on their website. Definitely take the time to do this.....

Gaston guided us through parts of the city and the stories of history were told with so many facts. I went on the morning tour which covered most of the main sites in BA except for Recoleta Cemetery… but don’t worry, that’s covered on their afternoon free tour at 5 PM! There is absolutely no reason to pay for a tour guide in Buenos Aires when these guys are in business. We just showed up at the meeting point (Rivadavia Ave and Rodriguez Peña street in the Plaza del Congreso at 11 AM) and off we went. This is a must if you want a good overview of the city. This tour is truly exceptional..

Marit | Holland I would recommend this walking tour to anyone. Gaston is friendly, knowledgeable and makes the time pass quickly. This tour is a great way to get a general overview of the history of Argentina and the highlights of Buenos Aires. Gaston even tells you what attractions in the city are not worth your time - we appreciated that as much as his recommendations of what to include. You don't need to ponder it .. just show up at 11 am .. you won't regret it..

No political agenda, just the facts, from all points of view, except soccer talk, he is an Argentinian !!!!. Gaston spoke perfect english,………he'll even recommend restaraunts and other things to do. It was a very enjoyable 2 hour walking activity. Highly recommended. Do it your first morning to get a good overview to start your stay in BA..

It was very helpful and gave me a good overview of the layout of the city - so much so that I was ready to venture out and explore San Telmo and Puerto Madero on my own afterwards. Also, our group was small enough that we could ask questions and get recommendations for things to do and places to eat afterwards. It was a very pleasant experience and well worth the two hours plus tips!.

The guides are friendly and funny and give some great tips how get the best out of you trip in Buenos Aires. This is an excellent, informal, informative tour from a native BA himself whom has lived in the US and speaks excellent English. Then later we took the afternoon walk through Recoletta area with Sol. They both are a wealth of information and these walk are a great way to "do" the city. We love you BA. DON'T FORGET TO TIP THEM!.

He was also available as we walked to answer questions, and give other tips about BA. After the tour, he took the time to give us detailed directions of how to get to the Murillo shopping area (for leather). I recommend this tour to give you a clear history of some BA historical highlights!.

Made it feel like you were hanging with friends! Gaston guided us through parts of the city and the stories of history were told with so many facts. Sol was so helpful at the Feria Matadores showing us where to shop, what to look for and explaining the Argentinian culture along the way. I highly recommend these tour guides. I will use them again on my next trip to Buenos Aires!.

I took the tours early in the week, which gave me invaluable perspective and guidance on Buenos Aires, the city layout, sights to see, places not on a map or in a tour book. The history and info tidbits only a local would know made the tour so personable. It's was definitely one the highlights of my trip!! And YES! It is FREE! Just show up and look for a green shirt!.

Jonathan | USA Just came from a most wonderful 4 day holiday in Buenos Aires. Not knowing where to start with the many places to visit and things to do in Buenos Aires, I was happy to find through Trip Advisor this website that advertised free tours of Buenos Aires. Feeling a little skeptical ("free" tours? must have a catch!), I decided to call them anyway to arrange a tour (well, it's not actually "free", they work 100% for tips). Little did I know, it turned out to be one of the best decisions I made on the trip. The Aristocratic BA walking tour my wife and I joined was two and a half hours full of fun and very interesting insights from our very friendly guide Sol, who took us around the neighborhoods of Retiro and Recoleta. It was like having one of your good friends (who happens to be a local) take you around town and give you a tour of the city that only a friend can give you (not to mention happily take photos for you!). We had such a good time that we ended up also taking the next morning's Buenos Aires free city tour, which had Sol's equally friendly brother Gaston as our guide. Gaston took us around Plaza de Mayo, Congreso and other places in Centro, and we thoroughly enjoyed his humor and attention to detail during the tour as he toured us around. Between those 2 tours and total of 5 hours with Sol and Gaston, my wife and I felt that we had covered so much of Buenos Aires' most interesting places to visit as well as learned quite a bit about the city's history, culture and people. All in all, I was extremely pleased with both tours. Very highly recommended!.
